Netball Dublin Ltd held Dublin’s very first one day Touch Rugby Tournament (aka Touch Rugby blitz) on Saturday 12th August 2006 at The DCU Sports Fields in Belfield. The turn-out was fantastic, with 12 teams entering from all over Ireland and from different Touch Rugby competitions i.e. teams from Belfast, Lucan, the DCU comp, the DIS comp and of course, the Netball Dublin competition. A good mixture of different nationalities were there to participate; The Irish, Kiwis, Australians, South Africans just to name a few. The event was aimed at all players – competitive teams, social teams, corporate teams and family teams, so there was something for everyone.

The Woolshed Baa made an appearance, both on and off the field - entering a Touch team as well as pitching a tent and providing the BBQ and refreshments throughout the day. With perfect weather, a good supply of food and drink and some good touch rugby, the day was a “great craic!”
